The 2009 Strawberry Hill Race Week helped raise nearly $60,000 for local charities with events leading up to and culminating in Central Virginia’s annual ‘rite of Spring.’ A portion of the proceeds from the Strawberry Hill Races benefit the State Fair of Virginia Scholarship Program, which rewards students for their hard work and achievements in State Fair of Virginia competitions. Since 1989, The State Fair of Virginia has awarded 2,231 scholarships and has dedicated over $1.7 million dollars through the program.
