Strawberry Hill Races
It’s a place, a memory, a
dangerous time filled with
intrigue. The glamour of
Rick’s American Café, the fun
of Mediterranean food and
Moroccan nights. Turn your rail
space into the Moroccan city of
Casablanca. Cordon off an area to
resemble Rick's bar, complete with palm trees,
gambling tables, and cocktails. Hang old "Casablanca" or war propaganda posters to create a 1940s atmosphere. Guests can look as glamorous as the setting. Women should wear elegant dresses with boas to compliment the men, who can wear suits or sport coats. Don't be surprised to see Humphrey Bogart, who plays Rick Blaine in the classic film, or Ingrid Bergmann look-alikes. Hire swing dancers to entertain the crowd and teach them some moves. Enjoy the classic songs from the movie, such as "As Time Goes By." Also play "La Marseillaise," the French national anthem heard in the movie. Serve hors d'eouvres, Sebastiani wine, martinis, or Champagne. Fill a crystal bowl with punch. A small ice sculpture adds extravagance. Dress the tables in white linens and place votive candles and a red rose in the center of each table for a glamorous spread.
